As part of its commitment to patient safety and quality of care, ESE Metrosalud has successfully consolidated the implementation of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Multimodal Hand Hygiene Strategy in all its locations, becoming a national benchmark for good practices in infection control.
Since we were children, our parents and adults have told us all the time, especially after going to the bathroom or before eating: "Wash your hands!" and many times without really understanding the meaning of these words, we did it reluctantly.
But we grow up and realize the importance of this habit and how such a simple expression surely protected us from infections and viral diseases and saved us from many problems.
That's why good hand hygiene is vital to prevent infections and diseases that can be transmitted through contact with vital organs of our body. And because of the importance of this habit in Medellín, Metrosalud has taken on the task of leading a strategy in this regard, targeting healthcare personnel working at its facilities and aiming to improve and protect the safety of patients treated within this network of public medical services in the city.
