Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI)

The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) is a fundamental public health strategy that guarantees timely and safe access to vaccines, contributing to a healthier and more protected Medellín. 

What is the objective?

To operate the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in the Special District of Medellín, guaranteeing compliance with the useful vaccination coverages, in accordance with the technical-administrative guidelines established at the national level. 

How is the Gerontological Life Center Model developed?

It has the ideal, qualified and competent human resources who carry out actions aimed at complying with the technical, regulatory and administrative guidelines defined at the national level. 

Advises stakeholders involved in the program according to identified needs, supervises and monitors compliance with the guidelines established by the Medellín Health Secretariat.

It takes into account the procedures, manuals, guides, tools, instruments and other documents that are incorporated into the Quality Management System of the Health Secretariat of the Special District of Medellín.  

The activities of the PAI take place at the Medellín Vaccination Administrative Center (CAVA) and in different spaces throughout the city. 

Who is it aimed at?

To the actors of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and, through them, to the target population of the program, in accordance with the current national vaccination schedule. 

How can I participate or gain access?

  • Citizens gain access to the Expanded Program on Immunization through the vaccination of the target population of the EPI. 
  • Vaccines are available free of charge at designated vaccination sites throughout the city.

The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) is led by the Medellín Health Secretariat and operated by Metrosalud, within the framework of national immunization policies.

Getting vaccinated is an act of love and collective responsibility.
